The Crew who Sailed into History

Meet the crew of the Tribal Warrior

It is said that many hands make light work, but sailing an old ketch around the World's largest island continent is no easy task. Here, we celebrate the trainers, skippers and crew of the Tribal Warrior on her epic circumnavigation of Australia.

Meet Craig Timbery, Dave Bird, Greg Flanders, Jemes Neuman, John Phillips, Kippa, Kirk Phillips, Luke Mowaljarlai, Mick Thomson, Paul Mongta, Peter Golding, Peter Jackson, Russell Slockee, Seaweed, Shane Phillips and Shem - true warriors, one and all.

 

Seaweed
Trainer

Seaweed played a key role in the success of Tribal Warrior's historic voyage, sailing with her all the way around Australia.

 

Kippa
Trainer

Kippa was on board the Tribal Warrior from Sydney to Brisbane, and re-joined the voyage again in Fremantle, sailing all the way back to Sydney.

 

 

Dave Bird
Skipper

Departing with the first crew in Sydney, Dave sailed the Tribal Warrior up to Port Douglas in Queensland. Later, he got back on board for a second shorter leg from Weipa to Normanton.

Craig Timbery
Crew

Sailing on the first leg of the journey, Craig sailed on board the Tribal Warrior from Sydney to Port Douglas, and rejoined the voyage in Weipa for the short run to Normanton.

 

 

Paul Mongta
Crew

Paul was on board from the very start. He sailed two long stages from Sydney to Port Douglas, and then from Weipa to Broome, Western Australia.

Peter Golding
Crew

Peter crewed on board Tribal Warrior from Sydney to Brisbane.

 

 

Shane Phillips
Crew

Shane was on board from the very start and sailed Tribal Warrior from Sydney to Brisbane.

Shem
Trainer

Joining the crew in Brisbane, Queensland, Shem sailed all the way to Fremantle, Western Australia.

 

 

James Neuman
Coxwain / Skipper

James joined the Tribal Warrior in Fremantle and sailed through to Sydney on the last leg of the voyage.

Greg Flanders
Crew

Greg joined the adventure in Darwin, Northern Territory and sailed to Port Keats.

 

 

John Phillips
Crew

John sailed the Tribal Warrior from Broome through to Fremantle.

Peter Jackson
Crew

Peter joined the crew in Broome and sailed through to Fremantle.

 

 

Mick Thomson
Crew

Mick crewed on board Tribal Warrior on her short but picturesque trip from Honeymoon Bay to Broome, Western Australia.

Kirk Phillips
Crew

Kirk sailed on the last leg of the historic voyage to Sydney from Fremantle, Western Australia. Peter joined the crew in Broome and sailed through to Fremantle.

Luke made his first visit to Sydney a spectacular one, arriving on board Tribal Warrior from Fremantle.

Sailing on the final leg of the journey to Sydney, Russell joined the Tribal Warrior in Narooma, New South Wales.
