Departure Ceremony

Tribal Warrior and its crew received a tumultuous reception at Cockle Bay before they embarked on their circumnavigation of Australia

After the traditional Aboriginal smoking Ceremony and dancing, the crew were presented with 'Letters of Goodwill' to be conveyed to all the communities the Tribal Warrior planned to visit on its historic journey.

Thursday 30 August 2001. Tribal Warrior arrives at Cocle Bay for the departure celebrations.

Following speeches from officers of the Tribal Warrior Association and invited dignitaries, the crew were presented with 'Letters of Goodwill' to be conveyed to the many communities they will be visiting.

   
There was a fine traditional smoking Ceremony with Aboriginal dancing.

 

The sounds of the didgeridoo echoed across the bay.
